CoCoRaHS Provides Critical Rainfall Data for Weather Monitoring

The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, known as CoCoRaHS, collects rainfall, hail, and snow data from volunteers across the country.

Precipitation is highly variable and important for weather prediction, water management, and climate studies. However, official rain gauges are often sparse and widely spaced.

CoCoRaHS fills this gap by engaging volunteers to report weather measurements, providing detailed and localized data. Many scientists rely on this information for research and forecasting.

Individuals interested in contributing can join the network at www.CoCoRaHS.org.
