Critical fire weather conditions forecast in Mississippi and Mid-South

Low relative humidity, gusty winds, and dry fuels are expected to cause critically dangerous fire weather conditions in parts of Mississippi and the Mid-South.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for most of north Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service. The warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are present or imminent.

For the remainder of the Mid-South, officials have issued a Fire Danger Statement, signaling an elevated risk of fire spread due to dry conditions and wind. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid outdoor burning during this period.
