Mississippi extends 2025-2026 wild turkey season through May 3, 2026
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has announced an extension of the 2025-2026 wild turkey hunting season. The season now runs until 30 minutes after sunset on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
According to Mississippi law, when the regular season ends on a Friday, the season extends until 30 minutes after sunset on the following Sunday. This regulation is outlined in Mississippi Code Annotated section 49-7-31.2(c).
The extension applies only to season dates and does not alter the annual bag limit for wild turkeys, officials said. Hunters are encouraged to plan accordingly and review the regulations before heading into the field.
