Mississippi hosts prescribed fire workshop for landowners in North Mississippi

Landowners and land managers in North Mississippi can learn how prescribed fire benefits wildlife habitat, promotes healthy timber, and decreases wildfire risk. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is hosting a Prescribed Burn Association meeting in Union County.

The event will take place in New Albany on September 1, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to department officials. Attendees will hear from various partners and connect with others interested in using prescribed fire safely and effectively.
