Mississippi man sentenced to 12 years for fentanyl trafficking

JACKSON, Miss. — A man convicted of trafficking fentanyl in Mississippi was sentenced to 12 years in prison on August 3, 2026, according to court records.

Jeremy McGee pleaded guilty before Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims to the charge of trafficking fentanyl. The judge sentenced him to serve 12 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The court suspended an additional 28 years and ordered McGee to complete five years of post-release supervision after his incarceration, court officials said.

McGee, convicted of trafficking, is required to serve the full 12-year sentence without the possibility of parole or early release, according to the court. The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office praised agents for their efforts in removing dangerous narcotics from the streets.

Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state. Jason D. Herring is the district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, officials added.
