Booneville Man Gets 15 Years for Meth Trafficking

A Booneville man will spend 15 years in a Mississippi prison with no chance of parole after pleading guilty in a Booneville meth trafficking case, the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced. Zane Miller, 32, was sentenced Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, in Prentiss County Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge John R. White handed down the sentence after Miller entered guilty pleas to trafficking methamphetamine, according to a press release posted by District Attorney Jason D. Herring’s office.

Booneville meth trafficking charges spanned two counties

The DA’s office said Miller faced several drug charges in both Alcorn and Prentiss counties. Those charges included:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine
  • Aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine
  • Possession of fentanyl with intent to sell

The investigations were carried out by the Booneville Police Department and the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department, working as part of the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, along with the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant District Attorney Kyle Robbins prosecuted the cases for the State of Mississippi.

No parole under Mississippi trafficking law

Mississippi law makes anyone convicted of trafficking narcotics ineligible for parole or any other kind of early release. Because of that, the DA’s office said, Miller will have to serve the entire 15-year term in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Judge White also gave Miller an additional 25 years, which was suspended on the condition that he obeys the law after he is released. Once he leaves custody, Miller must complete five years of post-release supervision with MDOC.

Part of a steady stream of drug cases in the First Circuit

The First Circuit Court District covers Alcorn, Prentiss, Tishomingo, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties. Herring’s office regularly announces drug-trafficking sentences out of Prentiss County Circuit Court, and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit has been involved in many of those cases.
