Mississippi Public Safety Summit honors top law enforcement and first responders
Jackson, Miss. — The Mississippi Public Safety Summit honored several individuals for their service and dedication to community safety during this year’s event, which drew more than 900 attendees, according to organizers.
Recipients included Captain William Kendrick of the Jackson Police Department, named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year; Officers Wyatt Webb and Brian Drieling of the Department of Marine Resources, recognized as First Responders of the Year; Angel McIlrath of the 19th Circuit Court District, awarded Prosecutor of the Year; and Captain John Clark of the Belzoni Fire Department, named Firefighter of the Year.
Organizers praised the awardees for their sacrifice and commitment to their communities. The event’s host expressed gratitude to his team and the Attorney General’s team for their efforts in making the summit a success. The summit has grown significantly over four years, from a small gathering to the largest yet, aiming to foster collaboration among public safety professionals across Mississippi.
“Watching it grow into what it is today has been incredibly rewarding,” the host said. “I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built together.”
