Mississippi’s September Teal Season Opens September 19

The September teal season in Mississippi begins Saturday, September 19, and runs through Sunday, September 27, 2026, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

Hunters are reminded to complete a Harvest Information Program (HIP) survey before hunting any migratory birds, including doves. Lifetime license holders and exempt license holders are also required to complete the survey. The survey can be completed by calling the MDWFP License Bureau at 601-432-2055 or online through the license portal.

Hunters planning to hunt on Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) must purchase a WMA user permit and check in and out via the MDWFP HuntFish app. To find WMAs suitable for teal hunting, visit https://www.mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/wildlife-management-areas.

Ed Wall of the MDWFP provided the information. The agency encourages hunters to get outdoors and enjoy waterfowl hunting this season.
