Tax Day deadline is April 15 for Mississippi residents
Tuesday is the deadline for Mississippi residents to file and pay their individual income taxes, according to the Mississippi Department of Revenue.
Taxpayers who receive an extension to file their federal returns are automatically granted an extension to file their Mississippi returns. However, the extension does not apply to tax payments. Any taxes owed are due by April 15 to avoid interest and penalties, officials said.
The department encourages taxpayers to pay their taxes by the deadline and provides a link to frequently asked questions for additional guidance: https://www.dor.ms.gov/individual/individual-income-tax-frequently-asked-questions.
