NEMCC Women’s Basketball Schedule Has 14 Home Games

The NEMCC women’s basketball schedule for 2026-27 is out. It includes 14 games at Bonner Arnold Coliseum in Booneville and matchups with four reigning region champions. Northeast Mississippi Community College released the Lady Tigers’ slate on Oct. 2, and the season opens earlier than it has in nearly two decades.

Head coach Brian Middleton enters his second season leading the program. He has kept his approach of scheduling the strongest competition he can find. According to the college, the Lady Tigers will face four national tournament participants, including two teams that were among the top eight seeds on opening weekend.

“We think we’ve put together a schedule that’ll really challenge us, especially early,” Middleton said in the college’s announcement. “I’m excited to get this thing kicked off.”

Season Opens in October for the First Time Since 2008-09

Northeast begins the season at the Kragel Classic for the second straight year, Oct. 30-31. The Lady Tigers will play Shelton State Community College of Alabama and host team Walters State Community College of Tennessee. Both are reigning champions in their states. It is the first time Northeast has opened a season in October since the 2008-09 campaign.

The home opener follows two days later, on Nov. 2, against Snead State Community College of Alabama. Chattanooga State Community College of Tennessee also visits Booneville to close out the first full week of the season.

NEMCC Women’s Basketball Schedule Highlights

  • 14 home games: two more than in Middleton’s first season.
  • Longest homestand: three games over the Thanksgiving break, from Nov. 21 against Coastal Alabama Community College-Monroeville through Dec. 3, when Walters State comes to Booneville for a rematch.
  • Five-game road swing before the holiday break, including a Dec. 11-12 trip to Florida to play reigning Florida champion Gulf Coast State College and host Pensacola State College.
  • Nonconference tune-ups at home against Bishop State (Jan. 4) and Calhoun (Jan. 7), both from Alabama.

MACCC Play Begins Jan. 11

The 14-game Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference schedule starts Monday, Jan. 11, at Holmes Community College. Defending region champion Northwest Mississippi Community College comes to Bonner Arnold Coliseum on Jan. 25. The regular season ends March 1 against East Mississippi Community College.

Basketball Returns to Booneville This Fall

The women’s schedule follows the release of the Northeast men’s schedule earlier this week. Together, the two programs are scheduled for 31 home games at what the college calls “legendary” Bonner Arnold Coliseum.
