NEMCC Basketball Schedule Has 17 Home Games for 2026-27

Fans in Booneville will get plenty of chances to see the Tigers this winter. The NEMCC basketball schedule for the 2026-27 men’s season includes 17 home games at Bonner Arnold Coliseum, with 10 of the team’s 16 non-conference games played at home, Northeast Mississippi Community College athletics announced Sept. 30.

The college said it is the third time in the four seasons since the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) let members play the national maximum of 30 regular-season games that Northeast has had double-digit home dates before league play.

“We want to play every game at home,” head coach Cord Wright said in the release. He added that teams still need some road games to challenge themselves, but praised the Tigers’ fans and said he hopes the home slate brings more wins.

Early Start to the NEMCC Basketball Schedule

Northeast opens with a rare afternoon game against visiting Lawson State Community College of Alabama on Friday, Oct. 30. According to the college, it is the first time since the 2008-09 season that the Tigers have opened a new season in October.

Bonner Arnold and Harvey Childers Classics Return

Both of Northeast’s home tournaments are back for a fourth year. They are named for the Hall of Fame coaches who led the Tigers to their three national championship game appearances.

  • Bonner Arnold Classic: John A. Logan College (Ill.), Ranger College (Texas), and East Mississippi Community College join Northeast. John A. Logan won the 2023 national title and lost only two games that year, one of them to the Tigers at the McDonald’s Classic.
  • Harvey Childers Classic (Dec. 11-12): a Mississippi-vs.-Tennessee format, with Jackson State Community College and Motlow State Community College facing Northwest Mississippi Community College and Northeast.

Ranger is one of three first-time opponents this season. Northeast will also meet defending Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association champion South Georgia State College and Albany Technical College (Ga.) at the Applebee’s Okefenokee Classic.
