State auditor says former Jones County deputy clerk pleads guilty to record alteration
State Auditor Shad White said former Jones County Deputy Chancery Clerk Christy Hodge pleaded guilty to three counts of alteration of records. The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor said the case involved bank statements altered and submitted between June 2025 and August 2025 to conceal public funds.
According to the auditor’s office, Hodge concealed $13,356.89 in public funds that she converted for her personal use. The office said the funds were later recovered and deposited into the appropriate county depository.
White said, “Protecting taxpayer dollars is our office’s top priority. We will continue to do everything we can to prevent criminals from profiting off of taxpayer dollars.” The auditor’s office said Hodge was sentenced to three years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, two years of probation, and ordered to pay $1,927.50 in fines and fees. It also said suspected fraud can be reported at any time by clicking the red button at the auditor’s website or by calling 1-800-321-1275 during normal business hours.
