Alcorn County ACE Power Nears Substation Upgrades

Drivers near Harper Road and South Parkway Street in Corinth have likely noticed crews at work, and the reason is a long-running ACE Power substation project. According to the Daily Corinthian, ACE Power is nearing completion of upgrades meant to make electric service more dependable for nearly 20,000 customers in the area.

Two Substations, Two Timelines

The work covers two separate sites:

  • Industrial substation: Located between Mi Toro and Lowe’s, it has been in progress for about five years. ACE Power hopes to finish it by the end of this year.
  • Downtown substation: In progress for about four years, it is targeted for completion in mid-to-late 2027.

Aiming for Fewer Outages

ACE Power CEO Sean McGrath said the cooperative is “trying to minimize outages as much as possible.” The utility says it is building a long-range plan focused on reliability, and the ice storm was a factor in the push for upgrades.
