Corinth Beautiful Business of the Month: The Carriage House
A Corinth carriage house turned vacation rental is the newest Corinth Beautiful Business of the Month. The Alliance announced Saturday that The Carriage House, a short-term rental owned by Tammi Frazier, has been named its Beautiful Business of the Month for October.
The honor comes from Keep Corinth-Alcorn Beautiful (KCAB), the beautification arm of The Alliance, which serves as the chamber of commerce and economic and community development organization for Corinth and Alcorn County.
About The Carriage House in Corinth
The Alliance’s announcement photo shows Frazier and others in front of the white, two-story building holding the “Beautiful Business of the Month” yard sign, with a brick walkway, trimmed shrubs, and a green lawn out front.
According to its rental listing, the newly renovated building once served as the barn and carriage storage for the neighboring estate home, which dates to 1906. Wood uncovered during the renovation is original to the structure. The listing says the house sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms with 3.5 baths, and that it sits about a mile from Historic Downtown Corinth.
Short-term rentals like The Carriage House give visitors another lodging option when they come to town for events at the Crossroads Arena, Civil War history at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, or a stroll through downtown shops and restaurants.
How the Corinth Beautiful Business of the Month is chosen
Each month, KCAB picks one Alliance member business from nominations submitted by the public. According to The Alliance, judges look at curb appeal and upkeep, including:
- Grounds that are free of litter
- Color and creativity in the landscaping
- Well-defined flower beds and mulch
- Pruning, maintenance, and the condition of the turf
- The overall condition of the building’s exterior
Winners receive a yard sign and promotion on social media. A business can win once every two years, and self-nominations are allowed. Monthly winners are also in the running for the Beautiful Business of the Year Award, which is presented at The Alliance’s annual meeting.
Nominate a business
Businesses inside the City of Corinth and across Alcorn County are eligible. Nominations are due by the last day of the month and are reviewed at the following month’s KCAB board meeting. Nomination forms are available on The Alliance website at corinthalliance.com/beautiful-business.
KCAB has stayed busy this fall. Earlier this month, the group invited residents to a free wildflower seed harvest at the Shackleford Memorial Garden.
