Corinth TownePlace Suites Opens With Ribbon Cutting
The new Corinth TownePlace Suites by Marriott is officially open. Delta Lodging Group cut the ribbon on the extended-stay hotel on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in front of a large crowd of local leaders, business partners and residents, bringing nearly two years of construction on South Parkway Street to a close.
The hotel sits beside Lowe’s and behind Gardner’s Super Market, according to the Daily Corinthian, putting it close to the shopping and restaurant corridor that serves many of Corinth’s overnight visitors.
Corinth TownePlace Suites Ribbon Cutting Draws a Crowd
Suresh Chawla, owner of Greenwood-based Delta Lodging Group, celebrated the day on social media, writing that the company opened the hotel “with a hugely attended ribbon cutting.” He thanked “all our friends in Corinth” and gave special credit to hotel managers Heather and Kristie and the rest of the staff. He also noted that the family dog, Sophie, had a front-row spot for the speeches.
The Daily Corinthian identified the hotel’s managers as Heather Moore and Kristie Smith. Smith marked the opening on Facebook with a simple message: “We did it!!!”
CBS Bank, which sent several Corinth-area staff members to the event, said the opening is Delta Lodging Group’s 19th hotel opening.

From Groundbreaking to Grand Opening
Delta Lodging Group broke ground on the project in November 2024. More than 225 people attended that ceremony, which featured The Alliance president GT McCullough, Visit Corinth executive director Christy Burns, Mayor Ralph Dance, state Sen. Rita Parks and U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.
At the time, local leaders pointed to the project as a boost for Corinth’s tourism economy. Visitors come to the area for Civil War history at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and nearby Shiloh National Military Park, for events and concerts at the Crossroads Arena, for youth sports tournaments and for business travel tied to local industry and Magnolia Regional Health Center. More rooms also mean more lodging tax revenue, which helps pay for tourism promotion.
Visit Corinth said on Facebook ahead of the ceremony that it was “so excited about the investment Delta Lodging Group has made in our town.”
Why It Matters for Corinth
An extended-stay hotel fills a specific need. Traveling nurses, contractors, people relocating for new jobs and families visiting patients often need a place to stay for a week or more, and a suite with a kitchen is more practical than a standard room. Business recruiters with The Alliance have long said that quality lodging is part of what companies look at when they consider a community.
The opening comes during a busy stretch for Corinth’s hospitality calendar, with the Indian Artifact Show at the Crossroads Arena, the rescheduled Green Market and Fall Festival on Oct. 17, and holiday events ahead.
