Corinth TownePlace Suites Ribbon Cutting Set for Sept. 29

Corinth’s newest hotel gets its official welcome next week. The Alliance and Delta Lodging Group will hold a Corinth TownePlace Suites ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at TownePlace Suites by Marriott, 1901 South Parkway St. The public event marks the finish of a project that was first announced in early 2024 and has been under construction since late that year.

The 89-room, all-suite extended-stay hotel is now listed as a new property on Marriott’s website and is taking reservations, giving travelers another lodging option on one of Corinth’s busiest commercial corridors.

The Alliance, which serves as Corinth and Alcorn County’s chamber of commerce and economic and community development organization, is co-hosting the event with the hotel’s developer. The event is listed as public and is open to anyone who wants to attend.

Ribbon cuttings are a regular part of The Alliance’s work with member businesses. They give local leaders, chamber ambassadors, and residents a chance to celebrate new investment in the community.

From Announcement to Opening

Delta Lodging Group, a Greenwood-based hotel development and management company, announced the Corinth project in February 2024 after signing a franchise agreement with Marriott International. At the time, the company owned and operated a dozen limited-service hotels in the Mississippi Delta, and the Corinth hotel was one of its moves outside that region.

The project broke ground in November 2024. More than 225 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony and luncheon, according to the Mississippi Business Journal. Speakers included Alliance President GT McCullough, Visit Corinth Executive Director Christy Burns, Mayor Ralph Dance, Alcorn County Supervisor Tim Mitchell, state Sen. Rita Parks, Mississippi Economic Council President and CEO Scott Waller, U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, and Delta Lodging Group CEO Sarah Ozbun. Wicker pointed to the new tax collections and jobs the construction would bring to the area.

What the New Corinth Hotel Offers

TownePlace Suites is Marriott’s extended-stay brand. It is built for guests who need more than one or two nights, such as traveling workers, relocating families, and visitors in town for longer projects. Based on the developer’s announcement and Marriott’s listing, the Corinth location includes:

• 89 suites with living areas and in-room kitchens
• Complimentary breakfast for guests
• A 24-hour fitness center
• An outdoor patio and guest laundry
• Pet-friendly accommodations

Why It Matters for Corinth

New hotel rooms matter for a city that draws visitors for Civil War history at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and Shiloh National Military Park, for events at the Crossroads Arena, and for youth sports, festivals, and business travel. More rooms also mean more tourism tax revenue, which supports local promotion efforts, along with new hospitality jobs.

The hotel’s South Parkway location puts guests close to shopping, restaurants, and U.S. Highway 72 and U.S. Highway 45.
