Rain, wind increase power outages as meals, shelter at Crossroads Arena

Rain and wind are hindering efforts to get everyone in Alcorn County back with power.

From ACE:

We fell to roughly 1,000 remaining outages overnight. Since then, rain has moved in and trees and limbs have knocked more power out. Currently we are showing just over 2,100 outages.

We have received additional crews from North Central EPA in Byhalia, MS.

We are beginning the process of cutting services loose in order for residents to repair damage to meterbases and weatherheads. We will also deploy a couple of crews to start reconnecting those members who have made repairs and are ready to receive electric service again. This is a slow process and are deploying crews to restore these services zone by zone. We appreciate your patience as we work through this.

Construction crews are still working to repair mainline primary and secondary lines. Crews are also clearing secondary distribution lines that are down and repairing them.

Right-of-Way crews and contractors are still removing trees from lines in order for construction crews to access them.

Rain is definitely not our friend today. However, we will keep plugging away until every member has power.

Meals will be served at 5PM at the Crossroads Arena.

If you need shelter, Crossroads Arena is providing shelter.

What a great service to our community.
