United Way Golf Tournament Raises $30K for Alcorn County

The United Way of Corinth and Alcorn County’s golf tournament brought in more than $30,000 on Saturday morning. The organization says the money will support its partner agencies serving families across Corinth and Alcorn County. The total was posted on the nonprofit’s Facebook page shortly after the golfers came off the course.

The weather didn’t fully cooperate. The United Way described the morning as “a little muggy” with some drizzle, but it still called it “a great day for golf.”

United Way golf tournament backed by Kimberly-Clark team

The United Way credited Kimberly-Clark, which operates a manufacturing plant in Corinth, for helping make the tournament happen. It named the company’s team members Dylan Sweat, Wenea Gean, Ashley Reardon, Dean Arnold, and Joe Welsh, and thanked the event sponsors and every golfer who signed up.

RAB, Inc. also got a shout-out for bringing a taste of Louisiana to the course. The United Way said the crawfish egg rolls, boudin balls, and cracklins served to golfers were “exceptional.”

Where the money goes

According to the post, the tournament proceeds will support the United Way’s 18 agencies in Corinth and Alcorn County. The group’s website describes its mission as fighting “for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community,” and lists partners such as:

  • Boys & Girls Club
  • 4-H and FFA
  • Faith Haven
  • SAFE Home
  • Alcorn Assistance Agency
  • Girl Scouts

These agencies serve children, families in crisis, and residents who need emergency help. For many of them, United Way funding is a dependable part of the yearly budget.

2026 Giving Campaign underway

The golf tournament is one piece of the United Way’s larger 2026 Giving Campaign, which is underway now. The organization raises most of its money through workplace pledge drives at local employers, along with individual gifts and events like Saturday’s tournament.

Residents and businesses who want to give or set up a workplace campaign can reach the United Way of Corinth and Alcorn County at (662) 286-8662, by mail at P.O. Box 1104, Corinth, MS, or through its website, unitedwaycorinthalcornms.org. The group also posts updates on its Facebook page.
