Corinth Half Marathon Road Closures Set for Saturday
Drivers in Corinth should plan ahead for Saturday morning. The Chick-fil-A Corinth Half Marathon starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Tate Baptist Church, and Corinth half marathon road closures will move across the north side of town and downtown from about 7:30 a.m. until a little after 11 a.m.
The Corinth Police Department shared the race organizers’ closure schedule and route map on Facebook Monday and asked residents to pass it along to neighbors and friends.
Corinth Half Marathon Road Closures by Section
The closures are rolling. Each section will close shortly before runners arrive and will start reopening once all participants have passed that checkpoint. Organizers listed these approximate times, matching the color-coded sections on the route map:
- Yellow – N. Shiloh Road: 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Green – Highway 350: 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Blue – N. Polk Street and the Tree Streets: 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
- Pink – downtown Corinth: 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Red – Warrior Circle to Third Street: 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. (used by both the 5K and the half marathon)
Organizers cautioned that the times are estimates. Roads may open or close a few minutes earlier or later depending on the pace of the sweep vehicle that follows the last runners.
Where the Course Goes
According to the route map, runners leave the start near Tate Baptist Church and head north on N. Shiloh Road, then turn west along Highway 350. The course comes back south on N. Polk Street and winds through neighborhood streets before looping through downtown Corinth. The finish is back near the start along the red section.
If you live along N. Shiloh Road, Highway 350 or N. Polk Street, or you need to get downtown Saturday morning, it’s a good idea to leave early or use another route until the closures lift.
Tips for Saturday Morning
- Check the map above before you leave home and find the color-coded section near you.
- Expect officers and volunteers at intersections, and follow their directions.
- Give runners plenty of room where roads have reopened, since late finishers may still be on the course.
- Church services, errands and appointments downtown may take longer to reach before about 11 a.m.
Thanks to Officers and Volunteers
Race organizers thanked the Corinth Police Department, the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office and nearly 100 volunteers who will help keep runners safe while limiting the disruption to traffic in Corinth.
It’s a busy weekend in town. The Brantley Gilbert concert in Corinth is also set for Nov. 7. For more upcoming events, see our Corinth fall events calendar.
