Local and state support
MDA is assisting through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, known as MFLEX. Prentiss County, the City of Booneville and the Tennessee Valley Authority are also helping with the project.
Gov. Tate Reeves called Marathon Cheese a prime example of a company whose story has continued for decades, noting it has been an important employer in Prentiss County since 1962. MDA Executive Director Bill Cork thanked the company for “once again choosing Booneville” and investing in the future of Prentiss County.
A plant with six decades in Booneville
Marathon Cheese opened its Booneville location in 1962. MDA says the company expanded the operation in the following year and again in 2000, when it moved to a larger, more efficient facility. Company President Gary S. Bachand said Booneville offers the infrastructure and workforce the company needs for its latest investment.
For Northeast Mississippi job seekers, the 39 new positions add to manufacturing opportunities in the Booneville area. Anyone interested should watch the company and local workforce offices for hiring information.
