Dense fog prompts travel advisory in parts of Tennessee and Mississippi

A dense fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. for parts of west Tennessee and north Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service.

Visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less in the affected areas, creating hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are advised to give themselves extra time for travel, slow down, and use low-beam headlights.

Officials recommend maintaining a safe following distance between vehicles and exercising caution during the morning commute.
