The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, announced that the intense heat is easing for one day. A heat advisory is in effect only for portions of the Delta and northern Mississippi, where temperatures are expected to be slightly lower.
However, the relief will be short-lived. The heat is expected to surge back north on Wednesday, with heat headlines likely across most of the Mid-South region, according to the weather service.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions during the heat wave. Authorities will monitor conditions closely and issue further updates as needed.
