Heat Advisory in effect through Saturday evening with high heat index values

A heat advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday for areas experiencing heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters predict increasing chances of rain during the afternoon and evening hours. These storms could provide brief, temporary relief from the high temperatures.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day, and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
