The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) has a dedicated K-9 Unit that plays a vital role in conservation efforts, according to the agency.
These dogs are not attack animals but are specially trained for tasks such as evidence recovery, tracking, and wildlife law enforcement, MDWFP said. Their handlers work closely with the dogs to uphold conservation laws and protect wildlife across the state.
MDWFP shared an inside look at the unit through a video, which is available online. The department emphasized the importance of the K-9s in supporting officers’ efforts to enforce laws and preserve Mississippi’s natural resources.
