Mississippi offers top spots for water recreation and fishing

Mississippi offers numerous locations for water-based recreation, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. Among the top picks are Ross Barnett Reservoir, known for bass fishing and boating adventures, and Lake Lamar Bruce, popular for its large Redear Sunfish and Bluegill.

Tishomingo State Park provides a peaceful escape with opportunities to rent a canoe and enjoy scenic float trips on Bear Creek. Pickwick Lake is another favored destination, renowned for bass fishing and scenic boat rides.

The department encourages residents and visitors to explore the many public lakes across the state. They can find more information and locate nearby lakes at the department’s website. Mississippi State Parks also offer accommodations near these locations for overnight stays.
