Mississippi Fish Hatchery Offers Free Fish Camp for Youth in June
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will host a free Fish Camp at the Bob Tyler Fish Hatchery on June 10, 2026. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the hatchery’s Visitor Education Center.
The full-day program includes activities such as fish identification, water safety tips, a hatchery tour, and catfish fishing in the VEC pond. Participants will also meet a National Park Service ranger and learn about the Jr. Angler Badge, according to department officials.
Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Interested youth or their guardians can call the VEC at (662) 563-8068 or email Emily-Jo Wiggins at Emily-Jo.Wiggins@wfp.ms.gov to receive a registration form.
