Mississippi will enforce new procedures for titling abandoned vehicles beginning July 1, according to state officials.
Authorized individuals responsible for selling or disposing of abandoned vehicles must notify the owner and/or lienholder within seven days of taking possession. The notification must be sent via certified mail.
Additionally, the procedures specify the use of a third-party vendor approved by the Mississippi Department of Revenue to carry out certain tasks related to the process. These updates aim to streamline the handling of abandoned vehicles and ensure proper notification and documentation, according to state authorities.
