The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks announced the opening of Alligator Wildlife Management Area, a new public hunting site in the Mississippi Delta. The area, located in Bolivar and Coahoma counties, covers approximately 2,882 acres and provides habitat for deer, wild turkey, small game, songbirds, and other wildlife.
Hunters will have access to various opportunities on the site. Deer hunting is limited to archery and permit-only primitive weapon season. Visitors are advised to review current WMA regulations for season dates, permit requirements, and other rules before hunting.
The department emphasized that the new WMA continues a long-standing partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Resources and additional information about the area and planning visits are available on the department’s website.
