Louisiana opens 2026 public water alligator hunting application period

Louisiana wildlife officials have announced that the application period for the 2026 public water alligator hunt is now open. The 10-day season is scheduled from noon on August 28 to noon on September 7.

Hunters interested in participating must submit their applications through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ Hunt Fish License System. Officials advise applicants to create an account in the new system if they do not already have one before applying.

The application deadline is Friday, June 12. The department encourages prospective hunters to apply early and to familiarize themselves with the new licensing platform to ensure their submissions are complete.
