Mississippi responds to severe weather with tornadoes confirmed
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is still responding to severe weather that affected the state on May 6 and 7, 2026. The National Weather Service confirmed seven tornadoes touched down during that period.
The strongest of these tornadoes were two EF3s that struck Franklin and Lamar counties, causing significant damage. MEMA officials are conducting damage assessments and coordinating recovery efforts.
