Trump Rally in Corinth Confirmed for Oct. 26; RSVP Required

The Trump rally in Corinth is now confirmed for Monday, Oct. 26, at the Crossroads Arena, with an RSVP required to attend, according to WTVA. The Republican National Committee confirmed the visit to the station on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 21.

Alcorn News MS first reported the expected visit in our earlier story on the Trump visit to Corinth, when it was based on a single local report. The RNC confirmation settles the date, place and schedule.

Trump rally in Corinth: schedule and RSVP

The midterm rally is set for Monday at the Crossroads Arena. According to WTVA, the schedule is:

  • 2:30 p.m.: Doors open
  • 4:30 p.m.: Event begins
  • 6 p.m.: President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak

Guests may RSVP online, and an RSVP is required to attend. WTVA published the RSVP link with its report. Parking, traffic and security plans had not been released in the reporting available Thursday, so residents who live or work near the arena may want to watch for announcements from local officials.

A week before the general election

The rally comes a week before the Nov. 3 general election, in which U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith faces Democrat Scott Colom and Independent Ty Pinkins. Mississippi’s three Republican congressmen, Trent Kelly, Michael Guest and Mike Ezell, all incumbents, are also on the ballot.

WTVA also reported that former Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to campaign for Colom in Columbus on Thursday.

Local officials react

Mississippi District One Rep. Bubba Carpenter said he, Rep. Brad Mattox and Sen. Rita Parks, of District Four, plan to attend. Carpenter described the visit as unreal, awesome and great for the town. Mattox, who represents District Two, said the visit is great for northeast Mississippians and one of the best things to happen to Corinth.

Only the third visit by a sitting president

Corinth officials say this will be the third time a sitting president has visited the Crossroads area. William McKinley and Franklin D. Roosevelt came before, and Trump would be the third.

Alcorn News MS will update this story if the arena, the campaign or local agencies release more details on parking, road closures or entry requirements.
