Mississippi wildlife officials engage public at Mason Creek WMA
Staff from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks spent the past week engaging with children and adults at Mason Creek Wildlife Management Area in De Soto National Forest.
The event took place at Turkey Fork Reservoir, where participants learned about wildlife, conservation efforts, and the importance of public lands.
Attendees observed native species up close, including an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake, a cottonmouth, and a pygmy rattlesnake, according to department officials.
The department emphasized the significance of educating the public about Mississippi’s native wildlife and the need to preserve natural habitats.
