Northeast Mississippi Community College launches aerospace manufacturing training program

Northeast Mississippi Community College has opened enrollment for its new Aerospace Fabrication & Assembly (AFAB) Program, a training initiative aimed at preparing students with hands-on skills for the aerospace manufacturing industry, according to college officials.

The program starts with an introductory course, ‘Intro to Assembly & Fabrication,’ where students learn foundational skills such as print reading, precision measuring, drilling, countersinking, fastening techniques, and assembly of aerospace structures and systems.

After completing the initial course, participants can choose from additional modules in any order. These include quality systems and machining, electrical systems integration, hydraulics and pneumatics, and composites fabrication.

The program is offered at no cost to students and is available at the college’s Corinth campus. Classes are scheduled from Monday through Thursday, with morning, afternoon, and evening options.

Developed in partnership with industry, the program aims to connect students with employment opportunities at companies such as Northrop Grumman in Iuka, Mississippi, as well as other advanced manufacturing firms. The next ‘Intro to Assembly & Fabrication’ classes begin July 6, with additional sessions planned throughout the year.
