Officials advise people not to click on any links or reply to these messages. Instead, they recommend deleting the messages immediately.
The warning comes as scammers increasingly target individuals with false alerts threatening legal or financial consequences. The Driver Service Bureau is not responsible for messages of this nature, according to officials.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious messages to local authorities or the Mississippi attorney general’s office.
