Booneville Schools Earn B Rating; High School Gets an A
The Booneville School District earned an overall B in the state’s latest accountability ratings, with Booneville High School receiving an A, according to the Booneville Banner-Independent. The new Booneville school rating is the first under a revised formula adopted last November, and officials say it can’t be compared directly with earlier years.
Booneville School Rating by Campus
- District: B
- Booneville High School: A
- Anderson Elementary: B
- Booneville Middle School: B
Tougher Grading Scale
The state raised the cut score for an A at elementary and middle schools from 442 to 457 points. For high schools and districts, it rose from 754 to 769 points. Under the old scale, the district would have earned an A, the article reports.
Focus on Life After Graduation
Superintendent Dr. Todd English said he is proud of students, teachers and staff. He said the district will not chase accountability points because past growth was not sustainable, and will instead focus on preparing students for life after high school.
The district says 19 students gained experience through paid, district-funded internships, and it was re-awarded District of Innovation status for the third time. Students also passed more AP exams than ever before.
