Watch Live as Kossuth Volleyball Tries to Make History with Title Match Against OLA

Kossuth’s first trip to the state volleyball championship comes with a formidable final challenge: taking the title from a program that has won it four years running. The Lady Aggies have already made school history by reaching the championship match. Friday morning, they will try to make that breakthrough a championship season.

Kossuth will face Our Lady Academy at 10 a.m. Central on Friday, October 16, at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi Christian University in Clinton. The Lady Aggies enter 30-4, while the Crescents bring a 30-10 record into the MHSAA Class 3A final. Fans can watch the championship live on the NFHS Network, with a subscription required.

It is a matchup worthy of the season’s final stage. MaxPreps ranks Kossuth No. 1 in Class 3A and No. 8 overall in Mississippi, with OLA right behind at No. 2 in the classification and No. 11 statewide. Both finished district play undefeated at 8-0, and Friday will be their first meeting of the season.

Kossuth arrives with 22 straight wins

The Lady Aggies have not simply reached Clinton. They have powered their way there.

Kossuth carries a 22-match winning streak into the championship and has swept all four postseason opponents. Victories over Edwards, Nettleton, Alcorn Central and Belmont have given the Lady Aggies a perfect 12-0 record in playoff sets.

Their latest performance secured the program’s first North Half championship. Kossuth defeated Belmont 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 on Monday, October 12, leaving no need for a fourth set in the match that determined its place in the state final.

The breakthrough came a year after a painful near miss. Kossuth fell to Alcorn Central in five sets in the 2025 North Half championship, finishing one set short of its first state-final appearance. This season, the Lady Aggies swept that same county rival in the quarterfinals before finishing the job against Belmont.

Now, the challenge shifts from reaching the championship to beating its defending champion.

Miss Volleyball winner Haupt leads the way

Kossuth’s lineup features the classification’s top individual award winner in senior Dallyn Haupt, the 2026 C Spire Class 3A Miss Volleyball recipient. According to statistics reported to MaxPreps, the outside hitter enters the final listed with 444 kills, an average of 4.8 per set and a .348 hitting percentage.

Those numbers make Haupt a central figure in OLA’s defensive preparations, but the Lady Aggies have several ways to generate points.

Freshman setter Ava Hopkins is listed with 808 assists and a team-leading 105 service aces. Junior Willow Hatcher has contributed 237 kills and 142 total blocks, giving Kossuth another scoring option and a substantial presence at the net.

Junior Dinah Lancaster has added 231 kills, 254 digs and 72 aces. Her production gives the Lady Aggies another player capable of contributing on offense, in the back row and from the service line.

That balance presents an important opportunity for Kossuth: making the Crescents defend the entire lineup rather than allowing them to concentrate solely on Haupt.

OLA brings championship experience and versatile weapons

Across the net will be a program accustomed to this moment.

Our Lady Academy is pursuing its fifth consecutive state championship and brings six seniors into the matchup. The Crescents secured their return to the final with a three-set victory over Presbyterian Christian in Monday’s South State championship.

Like Kossuth, OLA has not dropped a set in the postseason. The Crescents swept Magee, Union, Seminary and Presbyterian Christian, and they enter Friday on a five-match winning streak.

Their lineup offers multiple players who can influence a match in more than one role.

Senior Kaylin Kinniburgh is listed with 352 kills, 512 assists and 323 digs. Junior Krissi Pavolini has nearly matched her attacking production with 348 kills while also recording 580 assists and 44 total blocks.

Senior Madeline Piazza adds another important all-around presence, leading the Crescents’ reported statistics with 399 digs and 68 service aces. Freshman Lola Haas has contributed 172 kills and 314 digs, giving OLA production beyond its veteran core.

For Kossuth, the defensive assignment is therefore broader than stopping a single hitter. The Lady Aggies must contend with several players capable of creating points or extending rallies.

The service line could shape the final

One of the most important areas to watch will be Kossuth’s ability to apply pressure with its serve.

MaxPreps lists the Lady Aggies with 431 service aces this season, compared with 258 for OLA. Those totals come against different schedules, but Kossuth’s serving production makes the battle between its servers and the Crescents’ receivers a compelling part of the matchup.

For the Lady Aggies, the goal will be to force difficult first contacts and limit OLA’s attacking choices without surrendering unnecessary points on missed serves. At the other end, clean passing would allow Hopkins to involve multiple hitters and keep the Crescents from settling into a predictable defensive pattern.

The postseason results suggest neither team has needed much time to find its rhythm. Friday will test which one can maintain that rhythm when the opponent answers back.

Kossuth has already earned its place in the final. Now comes the opportunity to turn a historic appearance into a historic finish.
