NWS Memphis forecasts cold Sunday morning and patchy frost
The National Weather Service in Memphis says Sunday morning will bring the coldest temperatures of the season so far across the Mid-South. In a post shared Friday, the agency said temperatures will dip into the upper 30s to low 40s near sunrise before the day turns warmer.
The weather service said widespread frost is not expected, but isolated patchy frost could develop in some locations generally north of Interstate 40. Its graphic says clear skies are expected during the cold start and advises people to plan for people, pets and plants.
After the chilly morning, the National Weather Service says temperatures will warm back into the upper 60s to low 70s and then slowly rise each day next week. The graphic shows Corinth at 70 on Sunday and 81 by Thursday, while Memphis is forecast to rise from 73 on Sunday to 82 on Thursday.
The agency’s second graphic says above average highs return by midweek. The forecast table lists several Mid-South locations through Thursday, but the key takeaway for local readers is a brief cold start Sunday followed by a steady warmup through the week.
