Wind advisory, severe storm risk set for Tuesday across Mid-South

The National Weather Service in Memphis says the entire Mid-South will be under a Wind Advisory Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The update was posted Monday afternoon, and it says the stronger winds are expected ahead of thunderstorms. Forecasters said sustained winds will run 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, and warned that gusty winds could blow around loose objects and make driving harder for high-profile vehicles.

The same update says late Tuesday afternoon and evening carry a Marginal Risk for severe weather. The outlook graphic shows the highest local risk at 1, labeled isolated severe storms, with storm motion from south-southwest to north-northeast. Damaging wind is the primary threat listed in the forecast, and the severe-weather window is tied to Tuesday evening.

The weather service also lists localized heavy rain, and it says a tornado cannot be ruled out. Its graphic advises people to secure loose outdoor items now, including patio furniture, sports equipment, trash cans and trampolines. The warning is aimed at keeping property safer before the strongest wind and storm period arrives across the Mid-South.
