Corinth Mayor Election Tuesday: Where and When to Vote

Corinth voters go to the polls Tuesday, Oct. 13, to pick the city’s next mayor. The Corinth mayor election is the only contested race on the municipal general election ballot, and every city voter will cast a ballot at one location: the fire department bay at Corinth City Hall, 300 Childs Street.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Interest has been strong ahead of election day. The Daily Corinthian reported that 221 absentee ballots had been cast or requested by late Thursday morning, more than double the 107 counted on Sept. 25.

Corinth mayor election: the four candidates

Four candidates are on the ballot for mayor, based on the results of the August party primaries:

  • Ralph Dance (Republican), the incumbent mayor and a former Corinth police chief, who is seeking a second term
  • Nestly Gates (Democrat)
  • Tommy Irwin (independent), who served three terms as Corinth mayor before losing the 2022 Republican primary to Dance
  • Taylor Coombs Moak (independent)

Dance won the Republican nomination in August with about two-thirds of the vote. Gates had no opponent in the Democratic primary, and Irwin and Moak qualified for the general election as independents.

Most other city offices were effectively decided in the summer primaries, so the mayor’s race will be the main event on Tuesday’s ballot.

Where and when to vote in Corinth

  • Date: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026
  • Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone in line at 7 p.m. can still vote.
  • Location: Fire department bay at Corinth City Hall, 300 Childs Street. All Corinth voters vote there, no matter which ward they live in.
  • ID: Mississippi requires an acceptable photo ID, such as a driver’s license, a Mississippi voter ID card, a U.S. passport, or a military ID.

Only voters who live inside the Corinth city limits and are registered to vote can cast a ballot in this election. Residents of Alcorn County who live outside the city do not vote in the mayor’s race.

A separate election in November

Tuesday’s city election is separate from the Nov. 3 general election. Absentee voting for the November ballot is happening at the Alcorn County Circuit Clerk’s office, not at City Hall. Voters who live in the city will need to go back to the polls in November for those races.

Alcorn News MS will report results from the Corinth mayor election as soon as they are available Tuesday night.
