Victim identified in Sunday morning shooting death
The victim was identified in the Sunday morning shooting death in Alcorn County.
The body was located near the Hopewell community, not far from the Tishomingo County line.

Update: The individual found deceased on CR 182 has been identified as 22 year old Quantavis T Fernando of Horton St. Corinth. Based on information gathered during the investigation, it appears that the crime took place between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday May 1, 2022.

On Sunday May 1, 2022 at approximately 4:15 a.m. the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a motorist had discovered a body in the roadway on County Road 182 in the Hopewell community. Deputies and Investigators arrived on scene and discovered a black male with a gunshot wound deceased in the roadway. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
