20-year-old man indicted on statutory rape charges in Prentiss County

The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department announced that a 20-year-old man has been indicted on charges of statutory rape following an investigation prompted by Child Protective Services.

Authorities say the case involves a 15-year-old girl who was reportedly pregnant by the suspect, Preston Scott Culver, of Baldwyn. It was also reported that Culver and the girl were living together in the same residence.

After further investigation, affidavits were signed, and warrants were issued for Culver’s arrest. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of statutory rape. A Prentiss County grand jury subsequently indicted him on the charge.

Culver is also facing similar charges in Pontotoc County related to a different minor, according to authorities.

Investigator Torie Jumper led the case, with assistance from Investigator Aaron Stolz and Deputy Cody Horn, the sheriff’s department said.
