Boat access at two Mississippi state parks limited during July 3-4 celebrations

Boat access at Paul B. Johnson State Park will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 3, 2026, due to scheduled water activities and holiday events, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP).

At Percy Quin State Park, boat access will be limited throughout July 3 and July 4 because of planned Fourth of July celebrations. Only overnight guests will be allowed lake access at Percy Quin, and they must coordinate with park staff for launch and retrieval times, MDWFP said.

The closures apply only to boat access. Visitors can still access the lakes for bank fishing during the restricted periods, the department added.

For more details on the temporary restrictions, visit MDWFP’s website. Additional information about America 250 at State Parks Events is available online as well, the department said.
