Lamar County Disaster Service Center to Close Saturday

The Disaster Service Center in Lamar County will close at 2 p.m. this Saturday, according to officials. The center is located at the Lamar County Community Center.

Residents whose homes or property were impacted by the May 6-7 storms, designated as disaster declaration DR-4922, are encouraged to visit other centers or seek assistance online. Available services include help with FEMA applications, information on state and local resources, and consultations with U.S. Small Business Administration representatives about disaster loans.

Other Disaster Service Centers are open in Franklin, Lawrence, Lincoln, and Wilkinson counties. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Centers are closed on Sundays.

Residents can also apply for assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Officials note that in-person visits are not required to apply for aid.
