Wilkinson County Disaster Service Center to Close Permanently on Aug. 31
The Wilkinson County Disaster Service Center will close permanently at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 31, according to officials. The closure affects residents seeking assistance related to severe storms that occurred May 6-7, designated as disaster declaration DR-4922.
Residents affected by the storms can visit any Disaster Service Center location for help. They are not required to visit a center in person to apply for aid. Applications can also be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA app, or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), FEMA officials said.
The deadline for applying for disaster assistance coincides with the center’s closure date, emphasizing the importance of acting before the deadline. FEMA encourages eligible residents to seek assistance through available channels before the center closes.
