Mississippi’s Deer Management Assistance Program a National First
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that its Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) was the first in the United States. Since its inception, the program has been among the most successful initiatives affecting deer management in Mississippi.
MDWFP credits the program’s success to its design, which involves sportsmen directly in collecting harvest data and managing the deer herd. This collaborative approach has enhanced wildlife management efforts across the state.
