Teachers Face Delays and Challenges in Accessing EEF Funds, MDE Says

Teachers across the state are facing delays in accessing Education Enhancement Funds (EEF), despite earlier assurances from the Department of Education that funds would be available by July 15. Local officials say the department has misinformed the public about the timeline.

Officials noted that the new ClassWallet program, which controls the EEF, has made it harder for teachers to spend their funds. They also reported that popular vendors such as Wal-Mart and Teachers Pay Teachers are not on the approved list, limiting local shopping options.

Additionally, teachers have encountered difficulties accessing training for the new system. Many received notices that training sessions were full, forcing some to wait until the next week. This has left teachers unable to use the funds effectively and forced to pay out of pocket for classroom supplies.

Local representatives emphasized that teachers should have access to their classroom funds well before the start of the school year. They called on the Department of Education to address these issues promptly to prevent further disruptions during the upcoming academic year.
