A Booneville water shutoff will affect homes and businesses along part of Veterans Street on Wednesday, Sept. 30, while the Booneville Water Department makes improvements to the line. The City of Booneville said crews will begin at 7 a.m., and water will be off in the work area for the duration of the project.

The city posted the notice Tuesday afternoon on its official Facebook page under the heading “Utility construction planned for Wednesday.” According to the announcement, the work zone is:
Street: Veterans Street in Booneville
Section: From North College East to Plumrose
Start time: 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30
Impact: Water service shut off to the area during the improvements

The city did not give an estimated end time for the work. Residents who aren’t sure whether their address is inside the affected section, or who want an update on when service will be restored, can call the number above.
What the Work Means for Residents
The Booneville Water Department described the job as construction improvements to the water system on that stretch of Veterans Street. Planned work like this lets crews replace or upgrade aging parts of the system on a schedule, rather than waiting for a break that could cut service without warning.
Drivers should also expect to see city crews and equipment along Veterans Street during the day. Slowing down and giving workers room in the work zone helps keep everyone safe.
Tips Before the Water Goes Off
Because the city gave less than a day’s notice, households in the affected area may want to prepare Tuesday night. A few common-sense steps can make a planned outage easier:
Fill a few pitchers or jugs with drinking water for Wednesday morning.
Set aside a bucket or two of water for flushing toilets.
Run the dishwasher, finish laundry, and shower before 7 a.m.
Check on elderly neighbors or anyone who may not use social media and might not have seen the notice.
When service comes back, it is common for faucets to sputter or for water to look cloudy for a short time as air works out of the lines. Letting a cold-water tap run for a minute or two usually clears it. The city had not announced a boil-water notice as of Tuesday evening. If one is issued, residents should follow it until the city lifts it.
