High-Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Burnsville Man on Multiple Charges
Burnsville, MS — June 28, 2024
A dramatic pursuit involving law enforcement from the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office and Burnsville Police Department unfolded on Friday afternoon along MS 365 South, culminating near Yellow Creek Port on County Road 210.
The chase concluded with the arrest of Jeffery Lynn Powers, a 54-year-old resident of Burnsville. Deputies apprehended Powers after the pursuit and subsequently discovered a firearm and a significant quantity of methamphetamine in his possession.
Powers faces a litany of charges, including improper equipment, lack of insurance, careless driving, improper turn, driving on the wrong side of the road, felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and felony possession of a controlled substance enhanced by firearm possession.
Upon his arrest, Powers was brought before Tishomingo County Justice Court Judge Seth Adams, who set bond at $20,000.
