Alcorn County roundup, Sept. 18, 2026: Kossuth honors Mason Mills, extends win streak

KOSSUTH — Kossuth High School paused for 54 seconds to remember Mason Mills before its Sept. 17 district volleyball match against Alcorn Central, then earned a three-set victory for its 14th consecutive win.

Remembering No. 54

Players, coaches, members of the Mills family and supporters gathered at midcourt wearing green shirts bearing Mills’ jersey number. The 17-year-old Kossuth football player died in a June 6 crash. Lady Aggies extend winning streak

Kossuth won 25-12, 25-12, 25-23 to improve to 22-4. Ava Hopkins finished with 37 assists, four aces and three digs, while Dinah Lancaster added 11 kills and seven digs.

The teams are scheduled to meet again at Alcorn Central at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
