Rabbit season opens as burn bans and fire danger continue in Mississippi
Rabbit season opens with an 8-rabbit daily limit
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks says rabbit season opened in Mississippi on October 17 and runs through February 28, 2027. The department reminds hunters that the daily bag limit is 8 rabbits, regardless of species.
The post’s image shows hunters in orange safety vests walking through a wooded area with several hunting dogs, matching the season-opening reminder from MDWFP.

MEMA points residents to active county burn bans
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says a number of burn bans are in effect across the state and tells residents to follow the Mississippi Forestry Commission for the latest information. The agency’s post is a public reminder to check current restrictions before any outdoor burning.
One graphic shows a county burn bans map with many counties shaded red and says to see exemptions at mfc.ms.gov. A second image reads “BURN BANS ACTIVE!” and “NO BURNING!” over a fire scene and posted warning sign.

NWS Memphis says dry weather will keep fire danger elevated
The National Weather Service in Memphis says dry weather will persist into next weekend across the Mid-South as an upper-level ridge remains in place. It says minimum relative humidity values may average as low as 24%, and dry fuels will keep fire danger elevated through much of the week.
Its graphic says winds will generally stay below 10 mph, but it still discourages outdoor burning and any activity involving sparks or flames. The same graphic shows Corinth’s minimum relative humidity holding in the high 20s to mid 30s from Oct. 20 through Oct. 26.
